MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS - HCG DIET
Losing weight obviously is good for your health... but, what exactly are the benefits?
It only takes losing a small amount of weight to make a significant health benefit. As little as 5% weight loss can make a great difference. Weight loss is vital in the treatment and prevention of heart disease, unhealthy blood cholesterol levels, heart failure, type 2 Diabetes, and other chronic diseases. Maintaining a 10% loss of body weight can reduce, eliminate or prevent these diseases in overweight people. The health benefits are especially marked if you lose abdominal fat.
- Reduce the risk of breast cancer, in particular if the weight is lost before the age of 45
- Drop high blood pressure
- Increase HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol)
- Reduce the incidence of Diabetes by 58%
The link between weight loss and diabetes prevention is particularly striking. In the Diabetes Prevention Program, a lifestyle program that was conducted at several research institutions and included weight loss and physical activity components, participants dramatically reduced their risk of developing diabetes with a weight loss of just 7%. Another study found an 8% increase in the risk of postmenopausal breast cancer for every 11lbs gained.
AS WEIGHT GOES OUT OF THE HEALTH RANGE RISKS INCREASE FOR:
- Heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Several forms of Cancer
- Hormonal irregularities
- Gallbladder disease
HCG – ALL THE BUZZ
HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. HCG is a hormone produced by the human placenta during pregnancy. When a pregnant woman is not eating enough, HCG stimulates the release of fat from her body to provide fuel for the baby. It is believed that HCG may decrease or prevent hunger cravings and spare lean muscle when a patient is on a very low calorie diet. HCG also increases hormone levels in men and women that may increase metabolism.
The HCG program addresses what is missing from other programs:
- Increases the rate of metabolism
- Hunger suppression
- Help in controlling type II diabetes and cholesterol
- Boosts self esteem and self discipline
- Heightens metabolism
- Diminishes fatigue and irritability
- Mood stabilisation
- Spares lean muscle
FAT FREEZING - CLATUU BODY SCULPTING
Clatuu is a non surgical fat reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat.
This body contouring treatment causes natural cell death of the fat cells, known as Apoptosis. You body then naturally excretes the fat cells. The non-invasive procedure can be used to treat many different areas including the abdomen (Muffin Top), flanks (Love Handles), upper back (Bra Rolls), lower back and arms. This simple treatment takes approx 1 hour and has no down time.
Although many patients see a difference after 3 weeks, full results can be seen after approximately 2 months.

Neck and Chest Rejuvenation
The neck and chest are important areas of aesthetic focus that are often neglected, despite the fact that skin in these areas is thinner and more vulnerable to damage from UV rays and other environmental factors than that of the face. Any decline in skin thickness, elasticity and suppleness has more intense effects in these areas making them more prone to wrinkle and discolour. Visible signs of damage often appear in the early 30’s and without intervention become severe by age 50, frequently creating a telltale agEing imbalance between face and body that's in stark contrast to the harmony of youth. Non-surgical rejuvenation treatments reverse those signs of deteriorating skin quality on the neck and chest that are not amenable to surgery.
Treatment options include Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), IPL photo rejuvenation, medical grade skin care such as Rationale, Laser, muscle relaxing products and HA fillers.
Frequently the focus of cosmetic improvement is the face. Yet, one of the most age-telling body features is our hands. As we age, our hands lose firmness and plumpness and begin to look bony and fragile.... with vein and joint protrusion, thin crepey skin texture and often they've become flecked with brown spots from sun exposure. Combating the ageing hand syndrome takes more than hand cream (though that simple step does make a difference). The latest technology has given us a set of procedures that will have similar effects as those we have been able to accomplish for the face.
Complete Hand Rejuvenation is a combination process which includes at its core dermal filler and collagen stimulating injections , which re-plump and replenish volume to the back of the hands to provide a supple and youthful appearance. Patients whose hands are pigmented with sun or "age" spots may choose be pre-treated with the Dual Yellow Laser or IPL Photo-rejuvenation, to remove brown spots. Your hands will need to be protected from future sun damage (the main culprit in all unwanted pigmentation) by regular use of sun protection. Persistent use of sunscreen is a necessary step, no matter what cosmetic procedure your choose. Medical grade serums , such as our Rationale range, provide additional anti-ageing support.
Other treatments that can give excellent hand rejuvenation by thickening and enhancing skin condition, include Fractional RF and Platelet Rich Plasma. Chemical peels will reap a minor to modest improvement in skin texture and pigmentation. Prescription retinoids can also be helpful as well as other topical agents for pigmentation.
Scars and Stretch Marks
Surgical and traumatic scars can be improved by a variety of techniques, including laser, skin rolling and dermal fillers if depressed or cortisone injections if keloid. Stretch marks, or striae, are scars that tend to form in the dermis with weight gain or loss, pregnancy, and other periods of hormone change. When our body's elastic fibers deep beneath the epidermis become damaged these scars can appear. Women often tend to get them on their breasts, thighs, hips, abdomen, arms, around the belly button, buttocks, and back. This is especially common during puberty and pregnancy when a rapid onset of marks can appear. Initially they may be red, but as the redness fades, they may turn white.
Carboxytherapy is the new, simple and proven technique that can dramatically improve the appearance of stretch marks by improving local tissue metabolism and perfusion. Treatments are rapid, comfortable and effective for a high percentage of patients. There are other treatments available, particularly with lasers, which can help improve stretch marks. At Emetheni we use the Dual Yellow Laser with excellent results, especially with recent or reddish stretch marks. Medical Skin Rolling and Fractional RF are other potentially successful treatments. There are no 'perfect' treatments for stretch marks, as they are essentially scars, hence no treatment will completely eliminate them. A series of treatment sessions are usually needed to obtain the best results.
Cosmetic Mole Removal
A new breakthrough in technology has made Cosmetic Mole Removal possible without the use of a scalpel or stitches.
Moles are basically an overgrowth of pigment cells. Depending on the numbers of pigment cells contained in the mole and how deep, they may be dark in colour or the same colour as the surrounding skin. Previously, cutting and stitching was the only technique available to remove moles and it often left a scar worse than the mole. Traditional diathermy could not be used because of the heat damage to the surrounding skin which could cause more scarring.
Radio-surgery uses the latest in diathermy technology, the Ellman Surgitron to literally shave the mole away until it is smooth with the skin surface. The Ellman can do this and not leave a scar because the Radio frequency energy does not spread into the surrounding tissues causing damage to normal tissue. Your moles will firstly be checked to assess if suitable to be removed with the Ellman Surgitron. Dr Morley has many years of experience dealing with skin cancers and melanomas and any lesions of concern will be biopsied and sent to the laboratory for testing.
Removing the mole is quite a simple and quick process. The skin is first anesthetised with local anaesthetic and the outline of the mole marked with a marker pen. Once the area is numb the mole is simply shaved away until it is flush with the skin. The Ellman seals off the blood vessels as it shaves away the mole so there is no bleeding and because the skin is not cut there is no suturing required. Immediately after the mole is removed the skin looks a little yellow in colour. A dressing is applied with an ointment and a simple band aid. Aftercare is done at home by simply removing the band aid before having a shower, washing the area with ordinary soap and water and then reapplying PAWPAW ointment to keep it moist. There is no discomfort or pain.
We can also remove skin tags with the same procedure. Skin tags area common, acquired benign skin growth that looks like a small piece of hanging skin. They typically occur in characteristic locations including the neck, underarms, eyelids, and under the breasts (especially where underwire bras rub directly beneath the breasts). Early or beginning skin tags may be as small as a flattened pinpoint-sized bump around the neck. These may be better treated with the Dual Yellow Laser.
Axillary Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating in the armpit of a person. This condition involves extreme dripping sweat in the armpits, which is almost totally resistant to all the types of deodorants and other odour controlling medication. Sweating is necessary for our body as it maintains core body temperature. The human body has 4 million sweat glands distributed on all areas of the skin, with higher concentrations found on the palms, soles, axillae and face.
Botulinum Toxin is TGA approved for severe underarm sweating that is inadequately managed with topical agents. It helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops.
Teeth Grinding and TMJ Disorder
Bruxism is characterised by the grinding of the teeth and is typically accompanied by the clenching of the jaw leading to morning migraines, headaches, jaw and TMJ pain. No exact figures on the frequency of bruxism are available as over 80% of all bruxers may be unaware of the habit and the diagnosis is usually made when the teeth are examined by a dental surgeon. For these reasons, estimates of the prevalence of bruxism range from 5% to 20%.
WHAT IS CHRONIC MIGRAINE?
Migraine is a neurological syndrome characterised by altered bodily perceptions, severe headaches and nausea. The typical migraine headache is unilateral and pulsating, lasting from 4 to 72 hours; symptoms increased by sensitivity to light and to sound.
WHAT CAUSES MIGRAINE'S?
According to the American Medical Association (AMA), migraines are extreme headaches that can cause nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light. Any kind of anxiety, stress, exposure to light, caffeine, alcohol, hunger, or sleeplessness can prompt this type of severe headache.
HOW DOES BOTULINUM TREAT CHRONIC MIGRAINE?
The discovery of Botulinum Toxin for the use of migraines came about accidentally as patients who happened to suffer from migraines noticed that their migraines improved after cosmetic injections to reduce brow and forehead wrinkles.
A possible explanation is that it may affect nerve cell signalling systems that have to do with the perception of pain. Treatment of chronic migraines with Botulinum Toxin injections appears to be effective, but they do not appear to work as well for episodic migraines. Migraines of the “ Exploding “ type respond the best vs the “ Imploding “ type migraine. The effect of the treatment usually lasts between six to nine months.
