As we age our face looses volume, this is a simple fact of life. Volume loss contributes greatly to making us look “older.” Hollowing under the eyes, hollowing at the temples, the formation of jowls along the jaw line, thinning of the lips and loss of volume in the cheeks are primarily caused by a loss of support from the mid face and all results of overall volume loss. The good news is that volume loss is very simple to treat with fillers* and can make a huge difference to your appearance, yet it is a relatively un-invasive and inexpensive procedure compared to surgery.
THIS VIDEO IS A GREAT EXAMPLE
The patient had recently lost a significant amount of weight and at 57 years of age she was also experiencing volume loss due to ageing.
She felt that she looked tired and drawn and therefore older than she felt. This is a common complaint. In this example I have used fillers* from Allergan to restore volume and essentially “lift” the face by restoring support through the mid face.
In order to restore volume to the mid face, primarily the cheeks and temples, I injected:
+ 3 ml of Allergan’s volume filler* into the cheeks, temples and pre-jowl area
+ 1 ml of Allergan’s lift filler* into the jawline
+ 1/2 ml of Allergan’s softest filler* into the tear troughs and under eye area
I think we can all agree she looks refreshed and uplifted (her fantastic blow dry also helped!). The hollowness previously seen is greatly improved, that's not to say we can’t improve it further. I always go with a less is more approach for my patents and believe in creating change over time. Most patients are very concerned about looking “fake.” This is something I consider every time I inject. Will this enhance the patients natural beauty? I don’t want to change their appearance, I aim rather to simply enhance it.
With this in mind we have taken a conservative approach to treating this patient and left room for further improvement.
I will be seeing the patient again in 6 months to review and treat her further. We will keep you up to date on her progress.
Thanks to Bernadette for giving us permission to share her treatment. We greatly appreciate our patients helping us to educate others.
